The result
Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund drew 2-2 at the Allianz Arena on 31 October 2026. Bayern led at half-time and again after 66 minutes, but Dortmund found a late equaliser.
How the goals came
Konrad Laimer put Bayern ahead in the 38th minute, and that was 1-0 at the break. Serhou Guirassy levelled for Dortmund in the 60th minute. Dayot Upamecano restored the lead for Bayern in the 66th minute.
Dortmund then waited until the 89th minute. Fábio Silva scored to make it 2-2. There were no red cards.
The numbers
Bayern had 56% possession and 23 shots against 12 for Dortmund. Dortmund, though, had more shots on target, 6 to 5. Corners went 5 to 2 in Bayern's favour.
The expected goals figures were 3.95 for Bayern and 0.65 for Dortmund. Bayern created far more, yet Dortmund made their fewer chances count.
What it means
Before kick-off, Bayern were top of the Bundesliga with 17 points from 7 games, unbeaten with 5 wins and 2 draws. Dortmund were second, also on 17 points from 7 games, with the same record of 5 wins and 2 draws. Bayern had the better goal difference, 19 to 8, and the draw leaves that gap in place as the pair remain closely matched.
Bayern came in having beaten 1. FC Magdeburg 6-1 and SC Freiburg 3-1. Dortmund had won their last 3 games, including 3-2 against Werder Bremen. Neither run was broken in defeat, and the draw suits the form of both.
The head-to-head record now reads a little more evenly still. In the previous 5 meetings, Bayern won 2, Dortmund won 1 and 2 were drawn. This was another close contest.
